New Section

A new tab has been added to the top of your screen - "Scenarios of War". This new section will explore hypothetical scenerios involving the use of Iranian military power.

These may either be probable scenarios, or improbable ones that purely serve as a thought experiment designed to illustrate certain aspects of the Iranian armed forces.

At this juncture, the focus will be on easily quantifiable scenarios using verifiable numbers and statistics rather then more vague discussions of grand strategy. However that may change as time progresses.

This is largely why many of the posts will likely revolve around the use of missiles since they're relatively predictable.

Plans for development of this section in the near future involve the hypothetical attack on Gulf Arab oil facilities by a variety of means, primarily cruise and ballistic missiles.

  1. Firstly the "Gulf" is Persian Gulf I presume.

  2. Of course, when I say "The Gulf" it is purely for the sake of brevity. It's the same reason we all type "Iran" instead of writing out "The Islamic Republic of Iran" - it's not denying either the Persian heritage of the Gulf, or the Islamic character of Iran, it's merely easier to write.

  3. Thanks for the clarification Galen, as you are aware that there is a devious movement in certain quarters to diminish the glorious cultural, military and geographical history of Iran dating back 3 thousand years. BTW, the meticulous work done by you on this site is truly commendable. These scenarious are interesting, but as recent events in Iraq, Afghanistan and now Libya have shown the US and its puppets are not really in position to take on Iran directly in a military showdown. The weak US economy and vulnerability to a major OIL SHOCK resulting from a Persian Gulf-wide conflagration is not possible. The repressive Arab sheikdoms from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia are a house of cards desperately wavering against the tide of history and yearning of freedom from their own people. Iran's gigantic size, battle-tested military and a very nationalistic culture is a great deterrent for even the US,let alone other assorted puny regional lackeys, not to mention a robust missile strike force and multi-layered asymmetrical warfare capabilities. Iran's edge in a highly motivated, educated and super-patriotic population with a giant landmass would give pause even to the most crazy warmongers.
